BEAUTY and MEGS GARDEN

Hello every one today I am sharing a layout using some of the
BEAUTIFUL FRENCH INSPIRED papers designed by Denise ‘ The Articles de Paris .’
This Collection is one of my faves and I have mixed it with
snippets of the Christmas papers and the Forget me nots paper collection from 2012.
I love the soft muted colors and here I decided to create a background using two grey toned cardstock.
The banner consists of Ann-Le Belle Jardin papers mixed with grey cardstock. The photo is mounted with Ann-Le Belle Jardin papers and then the velvet flowers and die cut foliage are clustered around the bottom edge .
I fussy cut the ‘Clouterie Label’ and mounted it next to the photo .
To add extra interest I altered The Tim Holtz metal elements with Gesso and ink .

I really feel on a roll at the moment as this page just flowed together
without me tearing it up and beginning again
something I do often .

AND
how I solved this case file

' DELIGHT '

EVIDENCE
plain cardstock, dangle something (heart) , string, dashed lines
TESTIMONY
Baden and I often take time out and spend a weekend at a B & B . How wonderful to wake in the morning and be served breakfast in bed. I love to savour my first cup of tea in the morning - mmm tastes delicious. SIGH xoxo

MY HANDY TIPS
The heart is a found item ...
I altered this metal heart by adding some ink and then sanding off sections to make it look rustic and aged.
Tim Holtz metal key plate - brush with white texture paste/ allow to dry then add ink and sand lightly to create the aged look and feel .
Tear pieces of washi tape and add randomly to your page .
I created the funky arrows by cutting from patterned paper .
Layering papers and elements creates interest and also uses up tiny scraps of paper .
Adding an element over the photo draws the eye to a focal point e.g. THE TEA CUP .
Text Stamps make an easy, quick and fabulous title.
handy tip to REMEMBER when following a color palette --
I may choose to only use a small amount of one color.
example - here I have added the red down each side . Sometimes I may only use a brad or two..

Good luck and hope you are a lucky winner of one of the give away gifts ..
I will be announcing the winner on my blog next week
and all the winners will be informed BY EMAIL and listed on the CSI site .

PUBLISHED WORKS

I DESIGN FOR SCRAPBOOK CREATIONS
ON THE COLOR TEAM .
our  commission was to create a layout
using some colors from the following palette .

My view and approach on the palette
Soothing Blues and greens – I knew immediately I would be going with a ‘Garden Theme’.
I love to choose some elements, cast a spell, and see what happens.
Subtle shadows, light and color are all ingredients for casting this spell.
Light blue skies, soft blues and pink flowers mingled with white,
brighten the damp shady corners of my garden.
Nature is all-consuming, inspiring and a natural expression of my inner self,
which I love to weave into my works, creating harmony and peace to soothe my soul.

Colors used from the palette……
Main colourways
Sky Blue, Blue Lagoon, Celadon, Prussian Blue, Yellow Green
Complimentary colours
Naples Yellow Hue, White

'BLISS'
The pic shows one of my FAVE SPOTS at the bottom of MY GARDEN .

Handy Tip
When using ink I always like to do numerous thin layers..
By applying a thin watery layer first and adding more layers as they dry works a treat … building layer upon layer, allows the colour to remain translucent and fresh .
Sometimes we can all be a little impatient, wanting to see the desired colour immediately, but be doing layer upon layer is not only fun but you will also receive a more satisfying result …

I have posted a  rustic/grunge  mini book on my
ART AND SOUL BLOG

'FOLLOW YOUR HEART'

CASE #53 IS READY TO SOLVE

very different colors for me but that is just one of the things I love about CSI
I find out things about myself and CSI pushes me out of my comfort zone .

below is how I solved this case ...

'FOLLOW YOUR HEART'

these roses are ivory and I altered some by adding pale pink pan pastels .

EVIDENCE
flowers, pleating, texture paste, scallops., metal
TESTIMONY
I wrote my journaling as a recipe ----
Childhood memories, 1 fave aunt, 2 twin sisters, Hot cups of chocolate,
crackling winter fire, warm blankets, sweet scented blooms, laughter & stories,
 cuddles & smiles.
Mix all these together into a bowl of LOVE add a pinch of spice and bake in a warm hug xoxoxo .

Our aunt Sylvia was so amazing to us (my twin sister and me)
We stayed at her farm during the school holidays and she poured love over us .
Our mother died when we were 10 years old so we were very blessed
to see our Aunt 3 times each year during the school holidays.
The rest of the time we looked after ourselves,
We really enjoyed the break from cooking and housework
as Auntie Sylvia gave us both a rest from all the work and allowed us to be 'kids '.
We were extremely lucky as she was so beautiful to us .
Aunt Sylvia died last year which was very sad for us,
but our memories are so precious .
She will always live in our hearts.
My difficult childhood was challenging but I remember Auntie Sylvia as a shining light.
I love her to the stars and back .xoxox

she would always say to both of us
'FOLLOW YOUR HEART'
