Vintage themed layout at Megs Garden

Hi everyone ,
my turn over at
Today I decided to go Vintage , creating a layout with the ‘Top hat & Automobile Collection.
These magnificent new papers are perfect for Vintage / distressed/and grunge art.

“Friendship”
I discovered this old postcard, which I felt was just perfect for this layout.
I wanted to create an impression of an envelope, with oodles of stamping and an old grungy /messy background suggesting age and days gone by.
Women would gather together for afternoon tea and support each other.
The fashions back then have always fascinated me with such amazing detail. Although quite impractical, still very beautiful with delicate hand crafted lace and the hairstyles of the day were beautifully exquisite.
A little bit of trivia about me :
As part of our hairdressing registration exams we were required to reproduce a Vintage hairstyle, and I truly adored creating from this era . I have always loved detail, and I guess I intuitively transferred my love of detail from my hairdressing days into my scrapbooking !!
This vintage distressed clock fitted in perfectly with my theme, mimicking the time and the layers of that era.  I altered the Tim Holtz metal frame with gesso and paint, and stacked it over the clock element.
Again I distressed the papers and layered the diecuts to create dimension and interest .

Another layered cluster with papers, diecuts, chipboard, finished off with a metal brad .

Papers and items used
Automobile Parts
Roadster's Front Seat Blanket
Old World Time (clock)
Washi Tape

Tim Holtz metal Ornate Plate

Other items.
Tim Holtz die cut/ metal brads, Sizzix die cuts, Brads
2Crafty chipboard, Kraft paper .

Thanks for popping by and I truly hope you are inspired to buy some of these papers and have a play .
until next time

Publication in Scrapbook Creations - Color Challenge

This month  Scrapbook Creations issue 101
is a whopper and has an awesome brand new look
available now at newsagents

as a member of the color team our challenge was to use some or all of these colors
'Potting Shed '
these delightful colors remind me of nature, and they fit in perfectly with my friend's old potting shed, which has a lovely romantic quality to it . I wanted to create the feel of dense foliage(green) herb gardens (chipboard grasses) and small enticing paths (chipboard hexagon shapes ) leading to intriging , secretive parts of the garden .
Our friends Ros and Tony Hurren
live on a magnificent property in the Adelaide hills .
This darling old garden shed is nested among the glorious garden Ros lovingly tends to .

a dense cluster of flowers adds to the harmony of nature .
my beautiful friend Eila Sandberg sent me these flowers last year as a surprise gift.
thanks so much my special friend .

thanks for looking at my work and if you have a chance go buy the magazine
it is wonderful full of inspiring works of art
bye for now.

Case file #88 and Kraft it Up September challenge

CSI case file #88
rich and earthy case this week
to find out more

here is how I solved this case
'JOURNAL'

EVIDENCE
clock, doodle, frame,  pen work.
TESTIMONY
Notes to myself, I buy beautiful empty books and fill the pages with the stories, thoughts and feelings from my life. I capture in words my life's journey .
I like to record JOY, and a decade later I can read it over again
and FEEL the happiness I felt on that particular day .
I also record despair and one sad day I can read it once again
and know that I can recover just like I did before .
Being a student of my own history I can design a better future .
Written words can capture a feeling forever, before TIME steals it's lessons away .
I love to open my books and read my writings about the story of my son Mark. He developed cancer when he was 14, and it reminds me of the difficult times we experienced, and how we supported each other, felt our deepest feelings, and always kept our eyes on the light at the end of the tunnel and survived.
Mark was amazing to say the least .
An entire year in the childrens hospital, many many operations, hideous chemo and a transplant . He regained his health, lived his life in each moment with happiness and to the fullest only to be killed on his motorbike 8 years later .
Now here we are again going through another cancer journey with My darling hubby Baden .
we can do this, we can !!!!
My journals are an amazing source of love, hope and inspiration that feed my soul .
I believe
Life is a journey to evolve each soul and I know that when I come from my heart I am ok .
thanks so much for your love and support, it has been overwhelming to us all.
warm hugz xoox

Now for another challenge
'KRAFT IT UP'
THIS MONTH OF SEPTEMBER
the challenge is to interpret the following sketch

I flipped the sketch and made it less busy .
'Remember This Moment'
I really adore these Kaisercraft stamps, they are so quick and easy to use
and make wonderful titles.
I only created 6 circles and embellished them with flairs, brads and crackle paint .

I do hope you are inspired to have a play at one or both of these challenges
thanks for popping by and leaving me some love .
