'BIG BIG' HAIR - 1973

This was fun !!!
as part of the journaling we were asked to document a special event .
I chose to document my Journey in hairdressing.
On 24th March 1973 Lorraine and I opened our first hairdressing salon .
we were so excited and this photo was in the newspaper .
how do you like the BIG HAIR ?????
we specialised in hair pieces and wigs , the theme of the era .
we are both wearing hairpieces
THE FASHION WAS AMAZING, do you agree ???

' JOURNEY 1973'

 a delish cluster of
damask, frame, foliage, something transparent, patterned brad, flourish, B & W patterned paper .
I documented a special event .
24th March 973 a beautiful exciting journey began for my twin sister and myself .
Lorraine and I opened our first hairdressing salon.
The first of SEVEN over a period of 40 years in the business.
as far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a hairdresser. At 23 years of age we embarked on an amazing journey. I have been so blessed in my working Life .....Living in the light .
extra journaling written on the back of my Layout .
some of the affirmations I think and say to myself .
'I always value what ignites the flame within.
I value what inspires and interests me.'
when I know what I am feeling deep inside I know what I like .
my darling little grandie 'Ella Jai' wants to follow in my footsteps .
she is always fussing with hair and makeup , such a little cherub xoxox

hope you are inspired to have a play with this case .

HELLO everyone my turn today over at

My first DT layout today is
which is unusual for me, but I really had fun with it.
I find it good for my soul to go beyond my comfort zone
and splash out with something different .

I snapped This pic  of Ella Jai last Xmas while she was captivated
and absorbed  in one of her presents .

I wanted to create a bright and happy page
to embrace the beautiful  memories .
I just adore these Cherry blossoms,
and the splashes of hot pink  look so divine with the rich orange roses.

My handy tip
I pulled some of the orange ROSES  apart to make them look a little like daisies
and secured them to the page by adding a pink brad in the centre .
Looking closely you will see there are some fully formed orange roses
mixed with the separated ones I really enjoyed this process..

 GREEN TARA materials used
Pink Cherry blossoms 3cm FLC22P
Orange Roses small 1cm FDR00I0

other items  used
card stock, Basic grey, Bo Bunny papers
Die Cut – Memory Box, Brads – Bella, Washi Tape, Prima stamp – Trellis,
Tim Holtz stainGesso, Crafters workshop mask, Imaginarium design Chipboard.

my next layout is DEEP AND RICH .

Such beautiful memories connected with this photo . We were celebrating Ella Jai’s  5th Birthday at the Farm Barn in the Adelaide Hills . Lots of fun was had by all, holding and feeding the animals and then a massive party with delicious food and a huge pink birthday cake .. Ella had the best time !!
I feel  by combining the beautiful Green Tara blooms with fussy cut leaves and flowers

 creates perfect texture and delight..
I clustered  the roses and rose buds together,
hugging the photo amongst the diecut leaves..
here I decided to separate the med size rose petals
and place them  in a cluster at the bottom of the layout .
Securing them in place with small pink brads .

GREEN TARA materials
3 cm Roses Ivory  FDRO24Tu
1 cm Roses  mini rose buds FDVO25Iv

Berries and Flickering Candles remind me of Christmas.

Hello everyone, showcasing the NEW CHRISTMAS PAPERS
designed by Denise for  MEGS GARDEN

These are just the most delish Collection, I had such fun creating with these deep, rich velvety colors.
The entire page is created with 2 patterned papers . The Main paper is Christmas berry stripes paper , and the other paper is used to mount the photo multiple times, with some  fussy cut berries .
I decided to turn the Christmas paper  on the side and create a cluster of leaves and flowers surrounding the pic, and of course my trademark stitching in a mustard thread .
The papers are so beautiful they are a truly piece of art on their own .
My layout is backed with two sheets of distressed cardstock .
I chose the purple and fawn as complimentary colors.
The extra strips were perfect for the mounting process and the diecuts.
The mounted photo has 3 layers of Patterned paper and 3 layers of cardstock .

I very rarely do Xmas layouts for a couple of reasons
I do not really enjoy the TRADITIONAL XMAS COLORS
and the photos always seen too chaotic for me
but I embraced these colors with joy .
Here is my take on the new collection

Materials used
‘New papers’… The Musical Christmas Collection
Christmas Berry stripes P6329
Plum Pudding P6330
lace .. I dyed this lace with glimmermist to achieve the purple hue

Other items
Bazzill Cardstock ,purple and kraft.
Tim Holtz diecut – rosettes,
Imaginariun designs chipboard – alphas
Melissa Frances
Mustard thread
Diecuts – fancy tags  and leaves

Tissues boxes are so easy to cover and add such style to any room in your home especially your  bathroom or kitchen .
I used the delightful and enchanting Spring Paisley collection .
PROCESS .... Cover the entire box and then whitewash with light coat of Gesso …
Allow to dry then I added a Memory Box, leaf die cut, using the same Spring Paisley paper collection.
Next I cut some chipboard with the leaf diecut , and inked it with versa color ink, Bamboo .…
I positioned the cluster on one corner,  drooping it over the side  to add interest.
Layering …
Glue the paper leaves directly onto the box,  then layer the chipboard leaves over the top as a second  layer…
Lastly I added another coat of gesso to finish it off.

Materials from Meg’s Garden …
Other items
Memory box diecut

I encourage you to have a go at covering your own tissue box to add to your home décor, it is easy and fun

I Hope I have inspired you to have a play, and remember these papers are also perfect  for Xmas Cards …

TODAY I am showcasing

SPRING is a time when life is stirring in my garden …  soothing and calming my soul .
I chose to use the color combo of blue and yellow, reminding me of the blue skies and the warm sun and the riot of chaos and color provided by the yellow and pink pansies,  dancing among  white daisies , mingled with rich blue violets  brightening  the damp shady corners of my garden ..

I inked the clock with Tim Holtz distress ink -rusty hinge, and added a tiny dab of Polar Blue versa color ink
The alphas and leaves are also inked with versa color ink – Topaz  ..

 My Handy tip
While the ink was still damp I scratched some markings on the leaves with a fine pen to add dimension and texture

and I have popped in a couple of gorgeous rose buds among the leaves available from
