JOURNEY

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well .
Sadly this is my last post for
Megs Garden
I have decided to step down from two of my Design teams
you will still see my work on Maja design , Dusty Attic and CSI
This year has been exhausting for me
with Baden having Cancer and an ongoing health issue of my own
I am feeling burnt out .
Meg very kindly invited me to do some guest spots if I want to .
Thanks so much Meg for having me on the team for more than 2 years
I have enjoyed the journey designing with the unique papers, big hugz x .
Today I have another layout for you using the new Correspondence Paper Collection
designed by Kerry-Jean Watson for Megs Garden
these papers are the perfect marriage with the earthy hues I love .

JOURNEY

the stunning photograph was taken by GEORGE SAAD
I am very grateful George gave me permission to use his photos in my work

I created lots of different shaped tags with the paper and have them poking out from under the layers.

MOMENTS
I love to light candles each night and watch the dappled light create a soft relaxing atmosphere.
when I saw these papers I knew I would use this photograph .
I used lots of layering with diecuts
These blooms work in perfectly with the theme .
a cluster of the rose buds, the small ivory roses
with some diecut leaves .
I cut this heart with the paper and then light rubbed on some Rusty hinge distress ink
to create contrast ( these papers absorb the distress ink beautifully )
for the final touch I applied some crackle paint and a vintage brad .
lots of layering of diecuts with touches of Rusty Hinge distress ink
more layering under the photo
I find that the extra strips of matching paper
are fabulous for layering on my work .

More than a Birthday card - Maja Design

Hello all my beautiful friends
I am so grateful to have you here .

On May 21st , my twin sister Lorraine and I celebrated our 65th Birthday .
'Twins' ... celebrating 65 years together x
I am on the right .

Below are some early photos of us
when we were age 5, with our friend Libby .

We were age 23 here .
we had this photo on our business card for our first hairdressing salon in 1973
Salon Gemini .

I wanted to create a special card
so I decided to use a concertina Base and add lots of tags and notes
as a celebration of our life together .'Twins' ... celebrating 65 years together x

'NOTE BOOK /CARD'

When I handed it to Lorraine her eyes lit up and she smiled and laughed
as she took in all the details,
the bits and pieces and all the memories I journalled about .
Here is a view of the side section,
showing how the concertina foundation is perfect for holding the tags and cards in place.
This paper collection has the perfect tags , a calendar and little darling butterflies .
All the items can be lifted out and moved around .
Nothing is glued in permanetly so I can also add items later if desired  .

I included some photos when we were small children in a little tag/pocket .

Inside this tag/card holds some photos, quotes and some journaling .
I had such fun creating this project I am making another one for my daughter .

Today I am showcasing a layout loaded with Dusty Attic chippy
I have created quite a graphic creation today
starring the stunning camera.
There are also other chippies , the large and small film strip, flourish and border strips.
one of my fave color combos are
Red, black and white .
this Graphic layout is Deep maroon red. black and off white.

INSPIRE
I used the offwhite for my background with random stamping , and softly inked around the border.
lots of fussy cutting and the photo I found on free printables .
Just perfect for this theme .

I layered the camera, black ink on the large camera, with mahogany on the small size.
I really like the look when chipboard is layered like this .

Butterfly Wings

Hi everyone and a great big welcome to my blog
Today I am sharing how I solved case #127 at CSI
for more info

BUTTERFLY WINGS
I followed sections of the sketch by Emma Stafrace slightly, just making a few changes .

my tag with hidden journaling - tucked under the photo.

EVIDENCE
string, lace, ruffles, wood, hinge/buckle, retro image (photo)
TESTIMONY
I have hidden some of my journaling on a tag tucked under the photo .
I like the idea of the retro theme and when I saw this case file palette, I knew I was going to use theis post card image.
back in my teenage years I re,member always being fascinated
by the Art Nouveau images. I often read my poster books and browse through my collection of post cards featuring these dreamy images .
there seems to be so much emotion woven into these delightful whimsical images. I love the pensive look and I wonder what she is thinking?
such a soft and enchanting image of butterfly wings x
thanks so much for dropping by, I love to have you here .
until next time , stay safe and happy scrapping x

Birthday TAG in a Pocket

Hello all my scrapping sistas
I am so happy to have you here .
Today I am sharing a tag in a pocket I created for Megs Garden
I love to give handmade cards/tags to my friends for birthday celebrations.

I created this project with the beautiful
Correspondence Collection - designed by Kerry-Jean Watson for Megs Garden .

As most of you know I love earthy tones
I have added brown ribbon with chocolate blooms and some dies in white cardstock
as a contrast to the Correspodence papers

BIRTHDAY TAG AND POCKET
My stacked elements, created with various dies, in both white card and Correspondence Collection
complete with a metal embellie and a chipboard heart, altered with white gesso and crackle paint .
  I also discovered these beautiful
OPEN ROSES
are perfect for adding as a prop in my photos
I created my stacked elements with dies and completed it with a metal embellie
and a chipboard heart, which I altered with distress ink, gesso and crackle paint .

This tag lives inside the pocket, ready to write a message on .
I embellished it simply with some paper on the top section.
Adding some stamps to tone in with the Correspondence theme .

 Getting to know me ...

1. What am I working on right now .
Right now I am completing some more pages for my art journal .

2. How long does it take to create a project .
Mmmm that depends on what I am creating.
Sometimes I can take up to 10 hours to complete a LO/Project
or it can come together in 4 or 5 hours .

3. What are my fave things I love to create with at the moment
I adore layering , and texture.
I always reach for my inks, gesso and texture paste with my masks .

4. How does my creating process work
I always choose my photo first .
Then depending on the emotion and story
behind the photo I work on color, design and elements
I especially love to choose some elements, cast a spell and see what happens,
Subtle shadows, light and color are all ingredients for casting the spell.

some of My ART journal pages .

5. How do I become inspired and stay inspired .
without doubt NATURE inspires me .
I am in harmony with my garden and its inhabitants,
connecting with the beauty that surrounds me.
For me it is all-consuming, inspiring and a natural expression of my inner self,
which I love to weave into my works.
I am inspired by colour and texture
There are so many exquisite colors, shapes , shadows , in nature.

6. What is my signature style
well I think stitching, layering and chipboard are my trade marks
definately stitching, layering and chippies are on everything I create .
I love creating OTP and Layouts
I see my style as EARTHY with attention to detail…
I tend to lean toward monochromatic themes with a little shabby chic/grunge thrown in
